DESU general objectives

The programme aims at providing research training that prepares candidates for study and advisory missions based on methods of investigation in management sciences with the prospect of pursuing a PhD. More specifically, the focus is to define a doctoral research project. The course is about:

  • Defining a problem and a field of research;
  • Reviewing the academic and professional literature on the issue;
  • Choosing an appropriate method of investigation from those taught;
  • Writing a research project and studies.

The research project may lead to a PhD registration if it is accepted by a CERGAM (Research Centre) Professor.
-by one Professor accredited to supervise research (see column PhD supervisor here);
-by a binomial of a Professor who is not qualified to conduct research and a Professor accredited to supervise research (see column PhD supervisor here).

  • Career Opportunities and/or Study Pursuits: The DESU is proposed in Initial and Continuing Education, it enables students to meet the requirements of three professional pathways: academic research and higher education, research and development, business activities and organizational and management consultancy, in particular with a view to doctoral studies.

Conditions of admission

  • Candidates must hold or prepare a Master 2 or equivalent (Master, Engineering School, Business School or foreign diploma or Validation of Professional Acquisitions ...)
  • Applicants must submit a research project validated by a Professor accredited to supervise research or mention potential research directors supporting the project. The list of potential PhD supervisors is here.
  • Applicants must have a funding project (bourses Eiffel, Campus France, country of origin scholarship, a job position, etc.).

Recommended prerequisites to access this programme:

  • Proficiency in English
  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of management and data analysis with a project to pursue a PhD study.

  • Methodology and research design

  • Presentation of a literature review of academic references
  • Theory of organizations


  •     Initial training: 500 euros
  •     Continuing education: 1,500 euros

Application (Opening of online applications in January)

In the case of a foreign diploma (from outside the EEC), an application for exemption from a Master must be made in June at the latest for a start in September.
